Each copy of ComicBase comes with a year-long update subscription which includes weekly price and content updates, as well as all program updates that are released during the subscription’s term. This lets you automatically keep your collection current with the thousands of new issues released each year, as well as the hundreds of thousands of price updates. Unlike old-fashioned price guides, ComicBase’s item values are calculated each week from over 2 million verified sales and listing records, provided by Atomic Avenue and Heritage Auction Galleries. In addition to the content and program updates, ComicBase Archive Edition users can also automatically download thousands of new and updated cover images, giving them cover reference for the vast number of new and variant issues that appear throughout the year.

The easiest way to keep you collection updated is to use Sidekick to automatically update the weekly updates (typically on Thursday nights). You can also check for and download content updates from within ComicBase:

Checking for and Downloading Content Updates

  1. Use ComicBase’s Internet > Check for Updates command
  2. If an update is available, the Update Options dialog will appear:
    Update Options
    Content Update Options
  3. Choose the desired options, then click the Update button to begin updating your database. The process typically takes 5-10 minutes (much faster if your computer has a Solid State Drive)
Tip!
We generally recommend using the options shown in the above figure, especially, checking all the boxes which allow the update to make corrections to existing data, and to remove obsolete series and items. These latter choices allow us to get rid of titles which were solicited under one name, but shipped with a different one; as well as to remove items which were solicited, but never actually shipped.
